Our Programs
K-6th Grade Afterschool tutoring
We partner with organizations around Indianapolis to provide tutoring in literacy and math. Since this program began we have served over 250 youth. Students are given quality data-driven instruction to meet their individual needs.
Our Partners and locations
Intervention support program
We partner with elementary schools to provide reading interventions during the school day to help students achieve academic success. This program also provides assistance in tracking and providing services for students going through the MTSS process. MTSS, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, helps educators provide academic and behavioral strategies for students with various needs to ensure equitable access and opportunity for all students to achieve academic success.
High-quality early education is a cost-effective investment for improving both early and later school success, particularly for students in low-income families and for students of color. (Indiana Youth Institute, 2021) This program will serve as a model for all schools across Indianapolis Public Schools, if proven to be successful, Listen to Our Future will continue to provide intervention and MTSS support for the coming years.
Listen to Our Future works with colleges and universities to recruit elementary education majors to serve as tutors. Our tutors will feel more prepared for student teaching and to teach in urban schools when they graduate. They will be familiar with the students, schools, and curriculum while serving the community.
Project Based Learning Workshops
Project Based Learning is a way of acquiring knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems. Students are able to collaborate to sharpen and develop new skills. Project Based Learning centers students' voices while allowing them to learn in an authentic way.
This unique program allows youth to be active change-makers in their own community. These workshops allow students to learn in a transformative way while tackling an issue in their community.
